The Council for World Mission (CWM) convened its first introductory Board of Directors meeting of 12 newly-elected Directors a day after the curtains went down on the CWM Assembly 2024.
Board members, who will be serving CWM from 2024-28, met each other in a formal setting for the first time.
The session was opened by newly-elected Moderator, Dr Ming-Chu Lin, who preached on Acts 2:42-47, which tells of the lives of the first Christians. In her first message to the Board, Lin prayed that, just as the first generation of Christians shared a unified mission and vision of Christ, so will the new Board as they journey together as disciples for the next four years.
“Regardless of our differences in cultures, backgrounds, nationalities, and home church traditions, let us come together to be a community in fellowship with Jesus,” exhorted Lin.
After the adoption of the meeting agenda and a round of self-introductions, CWM General Secretary, Rev. Dr Jooseop Keum, presented to the new Board a brief history of CWM along with its governance structure to offer the Board members a clearer picture of the operational aspects of the organisation.
Each Board member was also given a copy of the Director’s Handbook, which details their scope of work.
A further series of induction and orientation will be set to follow in the months ahead. The Board will also welcome its 13th member – a Singapore-based Director—in an upcoming vote.
The next Board of Directors meeting will take place via video conference from 2-3 September.
